Ciaran Lyons is a director, writer, editor and visual effects artist based in Glasgow, Scotland.
His narrative short films create alternative worlds where supernatural elements, societal bounds and emotional motivations play out in strange and unexpected ways. Ciaran's debut short film, The Motorist, was selected for Palm Springs, Slamdance, and Glasgow Short Film Festival 2020. His second short, The Mad Shagger (supported by SFTN) is currently in post production, with future shorts and feature film script development in the pipeline.
At the heart of his portfolio of creative music video work lies a playful approach to physical action, DIY visual effects and a bold eye for colour - wrapped up in a love of the sublimely absurd. Ciaran's music video work has been broadcast on MTV, Kerrang, The Box and has been featured in Vice, Clash, It's Nice That, Boooom and The Gay Times.
Imaginative and meticulous storyboarding drive Ciaran’s output of inventive imagery and direction for commercial projects, across both live action and animation. Ciaran works freelance with a number of creative agencies, with recent clients including Papa Johns, German Doner Kebab, Arnold Clark and Drinkaware.
